Tara joined Carnival Films as a development producer in late 2014. Prior to this she was a film and television development and production executive working in both London and Los Angeles and had been developing a number of projects as an independent including the pilot “Lawless” with Shondaland/ABC.
Preceding this Tara co-produced the first two series of Call the Midwife, having developed the show whilst Head of Development at Neal Street Productions.
Before “Call The Midwife”, Cook was Head of Film for Vision+Media (previously Northwest Vision and Media) where part of her responsibilities included overseeing regional investment in films such as Sam Taylor Wood’s debut “Nowhere Boy” and Ken Loach’s “Route Irish” as well as for distribution of Vision+Media’s micro budget scheme Digital Departures.
Previously Tara had been Head of Development for Neal Street Productions developing material in both the UK and US, and being involved in such productions as “Jarhead”, “Starter for Ten”, “Things We Lost in the Fire” and “Revolutionary Road”.
While at Neal Street, she was executive producer of the NSP/BBC2/HBO film “Stuart a Life Backwards” and associate producer with producers Richard Zanuck and Dean Zanuck on Mendes’ “Road to Perdition”.
Born in the UK, but raised in California, after returning to England Tara started her career here as a director’s assistant to Gary Oldman on “Nil By Mouth”, as well as returning to work for him on various occasions this was followed by a number of roles in production until she began her association with Sam Mendes on “American Beauty”.
