It’s Christmas Eve at the Riviera Hotel in Eastbourne. Assistant Manager Ashley Dodds is excited to be left in charge at last. He’s determined to make it the best Riviera Christmas ever with a package of treats for the guests. Unfortunately his plans go awry from the moment the guests start arriving, and seasonal goodwill is put to the test. Warren Clarke (Dalziel and Pascoe) plays the cantankerous Maurice, whose life is turned around by this unforgettable Christmas, with Barbara Flynn as his long suffering wife Rita. Pam Ferris (Rosemary and Thyme) plays Avril, the ageing, man-eating divorcee desperate to find love and long-term happiness. They are joined by the very best of British comedy talent: Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentleman) plays the hapless assistant manager, who rises to the occasion when disaster strikes. Alexander Armstrong (Life Begins) is the philandering Reverend Miles Rogers, and Anna Chancellor (Spooks) plays his alcoholic wife Diane. Sam Kelly (Barbara) and Darren Boyd (Green Wing) are father and son Dennis and Tim Dunn who are mourning the death of Mrs Dunn. The drama is written, produced and directed by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni (The Worst Week of My Life). The co-producer is Angie Daniell.
