7 hour drama series for ITV

Set in the late 50's at the dawning of the rock and roll era, the series takes a lively look at the inevitable and irresolvable tension that arises when a Rock and Roll Coffee Bar opens up directly opposite a refined Academy for young lady debutantes.
The arrival of the rebellious CAMILLA DE LA MER (Jackie Morrison) to the Gracie Ellis Academy of Elegance causes mayhem, and she soon starts a relationship with JIMMY (Ian Embleton), Gracie's handsome nephew. Together, they organise the opening of the new coffee bar.
The interests of Camilla's class-mates soon turn from eligible husbands to lip-curling music idols, and the chance to enter the Pimlico Palais Dance competition. GRACIE (Ann Bell) wishes to understand her students' new hobby, but the REVEREND (Bruce Alexander) and FLORA DUNN (Alison Skilbeck), who are responsible for the lease on the Academy building, are not amused.
