A chilling look inside Germany’s violent far-right organisations and its disturbing connections with the political right wing of America. Adapted from the book ‘In Hitler’s Shadow’, this drama is based on the true story of a journalist’s secret mission to expose modern-day hate groups inside Germany. Oct 1992, YARON SVORAY (Oliver Platt), an Israeli Journalist living in Los Angeles is contracted to write an article on the trend of Neo-Nazi violence in reunified Germany. Svoray goes undercover to infiltrate the Neo-Nazis as a Journalist sympathetic to their cause in an attempt to discover the right wing leadership and legitimate backers of the Neo-Nazis. Svoray’s perseverance is rewarded as he is introduced to ERNEST BIELERT (Julian Glover), leader of the National Front, discovering he has direct links with fascists in the United States. The journalist’s story is concluded at a sting meeting for the culprits to meet with him and his “secret” American financier whilst German police officers capture it on video as evidence. One year after Yaron Svoray presented his findings, Germany’s interior minister identified right wing terrorism as Germany’s greatest internal security threat.
