Harley Street is a 6-part contemporary drama series on Thursdays at 9pm on ITV1. It stars Paul Nicholls, Suranne Jones, Shaun Parkes and Oliver Dimsdale.
Set in London’s famous medical district, Harley Street is a modern take on a quintessentially English world of medicine. It tells the stories of a team of high-flying GPs and Specialists establishing one of a new breed of forward looking private practices. Created by Marston Bloom, Harley Street shows a world in which doctors are with their patients on every step of the medical journey - from Lifestyle surgery to unusual and life threatening medical cases. They become uniquely involved in their patients' medical journeys. We also see the complex personal relationships of the Harley Street doctors who must make life and death decisions while trying to find balance between their work and home life.
This 6-part series features a range of exciting and glamorous characters but also shows how ‘ordinary people’ are turning to private medicine at a time when the NHS is being stretched to breaking point. It is sexy, humorous, modern and ultimately affirming; no matter who we are, we all need a good doctor.
Harley Street is written by Marston Bloom, Howard Overman, Nicole Taylor and Jack Williams. The series has been developed by Carnival’s Christopher Aird who is Executive Producer with Creative Director Sally Woodward Gentle. The Producer is Joy Spink (Waking the Dead, Auf Wiedersehen Pet). Paul Whittington, Colin Teague and Barnaby Southcombe are directing.
