Material Girl is a romantic comedy about a young fashion designer battling her former boss, a sexy but devilish business partner and snobby fashionistas to get her break in work and love. Lenora Crichlow (Being Human, Sugar Rush) stars as young designer Ali Redcliffe alongside Dervla Kirwan (Doctor Who) who plays Ali’s enemy Davina Bailey. Ali’s mercurial and brilliant business partner, Marco, is played by Michael Landes (Love Soup) and the role of her too-good-to-be-true love interest, Chris, is taken on by OT Fagbenle. Friendships and relationships, the ups and downs, solidarity, extraordinary chemistry and entwined destinies are the fabric of Material Girl.
Material Girl is produced by Chrissy Skinns (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl); directed by Cilla Ware (Primeval, All The Small Things), Sarah O'Gorman (Plus One) and Philip John (Mistresses). The show is inspired by the book, Fashion Babylon by Imogen Edwards-Jones. The series has been created by Joshua St Johnston and written by Colin Bytheway, Ben Ockrent, Imogen Edwards-Jones and Jess Williams.
